A public district with a private-sector brand — built to attract visitors, tenants, and investment.

The Red Bird Public Improvement District is a Dallas-area economic development zone focused on revitalizing one of the city's most historic corridors. DWJ & Co. led brand strategy, visual identity, and project management to turn a municipal entity into a recognizable, market-ready place brand.

01

Situation.

The district needed to communicate its value to multiple audiences — residents, city stakeholders, prospective tenants, and investors — but lacked a unifying brand system and a clear voice. Project coordination across vendors, agencies, and public offices was fragmented.

  • No cohesive brand story existed for how the district serves residents, retailers, and developers.
  • Visual identity and messaging were inconsistent across signage, presentations, and digital channels.
  • Multiple vendors and initiatives were moving in parallel without a central project owner or unified timeline.
  • The district needed to stand out in a crowded economic development landscape without losing its neighborhood identity.

02

Move.

We built a place-brand system rooted in Red Bird's history and future, then managed the rollout across identity, marketing, and stakeholder communications.

  • Developed a brand strategy that positioned the district as a connected, accessible destination for commerce and community.
  • Created a complete visual identity system — logo, color palette, typography, signage, and application guidelines — that works across public and private touchpoints.
  • Led project management for brand and marketing initiatives, coordinating internal teams, external vendors, and city partners around a single roadmap.
  • Built presentation decks, property collateral, and digital assets that help stakeholders understand and buy into the district's vision.
  • Advised on signage, wayfinding, and environmental branding to create consistency across the physical corridor.

03

Result.

Red Bird PID now operates with a unified brand and project management structure that helps stakeholders, tenants, and investors see the district as a destination — not just a jurisdiction.

  • A fully documented brand system gives the district a consistent voice across public meetings, decks, signage, and marketing.
  • Project workflows and vendor coordination now run through a centralized management process.
  • The identity has been applied to signage, property marketing, presentations, and event activations across the district.
  • Stakeholder communication now begins with a clear story instead of a list of projects.
